More meetings will not make things more actionable.

Serious games for transformation teams

Serious games are short, hands-on simulations. Participants tackle a real challenge together, try out new behavior without real-world risk, and reflect on what happened. I facilitate them, and I teach facilitators to run them.

Why this works where another meeting does not: information alone does not change what people do. The knowing-doing gap is well documented (Pfeffer & Sutton, 2000). A serious game turns information, context and relationships, plus an outlook on what is real, what could go wrong and what could go well, into an interactive moment, and then into purposeful action.

What a session looks like. We agree on a goal, run the process, act, look at the outcome, and iterate. The experience is one third. The debrief and the follow-through are the other two thirds. Every session ends with a commitment-to-growth moment: one small, specific, real step, shared with others.

What you can use it for. Alignment across teams · rehearsing a new way of working · surfacing group dynamics · making a change tangible before it is real · helping new facilitators practice.

Courage catalyzes change

How I work with games

I facilitate serious games that other people designed, plus my own co-creations: #TheDebriefingCube, Rollen-Spiel-Karten and the Facilitation Gym. A game never does the work alone. The facilitator makes the difference.

“Every high-impact session needs all three: compelling challenges, the right participants, and the willingness to engage. The overlap makes owned growth more likely. It does not create it automatically. A facilitator designs for it and holds the conditions for it to happen. The growth zone is entered in the room and survives Monday.” – Julian Kea
